Runes by Kylie Holmes

Kylie has a delightfully warm and approachable style of writing which makes this short introduction (just over 90 pages) a pleasure to read. There is a little historical background but not too much to overwhelm. It includes basic meanings while the focus is on encouraging the reader to develop their own intuitive relationship with the runes.

The only reason I have given 4 stars instead of 5 is the number of typographical errors, and mismatches between the text and one or two illustrations in the copy I have. Some of these could confuse an absolute beginner. The book would have benefitted from and deserved closer editing.

Nevertheless, this is not a deal breaker and certainly Runes would be a good first book on the subject for a beginner.

I am very happy with this book. It gives a magical feeling and how I read it is how magic happens. Looks chaotic, but I feel connected to the runes and also to what is written here in the book about it.
I am a beginner in studying this language, but I am known with runes.
Had some stones carved with runes and they came to me on Orkney, many years back, but it haves a meaning and how the stones work is also magical. So thank you very much to Kylie for this book and to OBOD for presenting this and making it possible to find and study that now. Much love, Faride

This is a compreensive guide and very pleasant reading that offers ways to reflect on the meaningful possibilities of the runes.
