The Winged Psyche - Philip Carr-Gomm
The Winged Psyche - Philip Carr-Gomm
“An exquisite pamphlet, as beautifully and robustly made as it is refined in all its perceptions, and full of the marrow of wisdom as well as genuinely comforting.” - Jay Ramsay
Philip writes: "The Winged Psyche is the account of the answers I received from beings who came to me, who felt Otherworldy and Angelic, when I asked them the 'big questions': Is there a reason for us being here? If so, what are we all supposed to be doing? And who or what exactly are we, and what happens when we die?
Soon after these encounters, I met by chance a very talented book designer, Crispin Rose-Innes, and I decided to publish these answers in a different way to the usual mass-market paperback and ebook. I wanted to create something beautiful, not only to read, but also to own, hold in your hands, and give as a gift. Crispin has designed just such a book. It's short - just 21 pages - but it looks and feels beautifully crafted, with its binding sewn rather than stapled, and its separate loose cover folded around it."
A Limited First Edition sold out very quickly, so we have reprinted it on different paper and with normal rather than hand-finished sewn binding, and you can order it here.

Surely I dreamt to-day, or did I see the winged Psyche with awaken'd eyes?
Keats’s Ode to Psyche
Is there a reason for us being here? And if so, what are we all supposed to be doing? Who or what exactly are we, and what happens when we die? These are some of the fundamental questions that philosophers grapple with, and which the rest of us explore more or less deeply, but often set aside because they seem unanswerable or the baby starts crying, or the train finally arrives.
The other night I had a dream that it was time to let go of all the furniture, the house, everything, and walk out into the unknown. As I awoke, I experienced an unusual sense of clarity that came with the thought that to seek the answers to these questions I simply needed to open my mind and heart - to let go of all the furniture.
And as I walked out of the house that morning and on to the Downs in the bright sunshine of a cold winter’s day, I had the feeling for a few moments that someone else was by my side, not near - perhaps twenty feet or so away - just at the edges of my awareness...
